We’re a specialist supplier of fasteners, fixings and slotted channel products.
We are the experts in procurement of these products – hence our name change from Cotswold Fasteners to Prokura.
Our premise is simple – we source, supply and manufacture high quality building services products. We understand that the products we supply are essential to your business so we ensure they are consistently available and supply them efficiently and sustainably at the best price.
With an enviable reputation for range, stock holding, quality and value, backed-up with a real can-do attitude, Prokura has served countless customers from its Gloucestershire headquarters for nearly 50 years.
The Prokura story…
Stuart Gear was the founder and driving force of the business when it started in 1975, ably supported by his wife and business partner Christine.
Stuart’s first sales trip was on a Friday afternoon – usually the worst time to sell – yet he brought in 3 orders and the business was underway.
Stuart was MD of the company for 44 years until he retired on his 70th birthday.
Key events in our history
1975
Stuart Gear formed Cotswold Fasteners in 1975, with the ambition to pass something valuable on to the next generation.
He had a perfectly good job with a company called Wessex Fixings and decided amicably with the owner to start doing a similar thing under the name of Cotswold Fasteners.
The company initially supplied end users and merchants in the Cotswolds.
1984
In 1984 Stuart decided that a step change was due and supplied merchants exclusively.
The business was built on three product groups, roofing bolts, coach screws and cup square hex. With national supply agreements with manufacturers in the UK it worked very well.
2005
In 2005 we moved to our current premises – 2 ½ times the size of the previous site, allowing us to significantly increase our product offering and increase market share.
2013
We innovated the combi-drive tray bolt which features a PZ2 drive making installation 10x faster when using a power tool. The combi-drive tray bolt is now used daily in the industrial, M&E and building services sector.
2019
2021
In 2021 and early 2022 a management team was recruited of the highest quality to oversee a significant improvement in our service levels to customers. Since covid the company has focused on customers who value strong supply chains, sustainability and business partnerships that are mutually successful.
2023
In April 2023 we decided to change the company name to Prokura to better reflect our national and international customer base, and the scale of our business. The Prokura name is a deliberate play on the word procurement because we are procurement experts building and managing stable, established supply chains.
With huge amounts of product and process knowledge, our specialist team is perfectly placed to advise, support and offer solutions for customers at every level.
What's next?
Prokura is on a pathway of growth. We are looking at any options to further improve the strength of our supply chain in the future. Whether that involves acquisition or other ways of improving we shall see!
